Description

This watercolor was painted circa 1953. It is currently being evaluated for acquisition by the Nebraska Museum of Art.

This piece was painted and originally shown on Reinhold and Doris’s honeymoon. Reinhold was invited to a conference to be held in Red Cloud and used this as a pretext to propose to Doris. They traveled across the country in an unreliable station wagon, only to find that the conference had been canceled.  The sponsor’s letter concerning the cancellation had gone astray.   The sponsor found some accommodation for them and they spent at least a week in Red Cloud, during which they BOTH did quite a few watercolors and had an outdoor show.
